1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to caregivers for adults; creating the
3	Seniors Offering Services program within the Department of
4	Elderly Affairs; providing purposes; providing an
5	effective date.

7	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9	Section 1.  Seniors Offering Services program.--Seniors
10	Offering Services is created as an independent, not-for-profit
11	corporation within the Department of Elderly Affairs. The
12	purpose of the program is:
13	(1)  To foster the development of training and employment
14	opportunities for economically disadvantaged workers 55 years of
15	age and older that are critical to the provision of community-
16	based and institutional care for frail and vulnerable adults who
17	live in the community.
18	(2)  To assist in meeting the growing demand for in-home
19	companion care services and prevent costly premature
20	institutional placement.
21	(3)  To become a direct referral resource for the
22	department.
23	Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
