  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to life insurance for Florida

  3         National Guard members; providing for issuing a

  4         life insurance policy to members of the Florida

  5         National Guard under certain circumstances;

  6         specifying an amount; requiring the Legislature

  7         to provide for a continuing appropriation to

  8         pay the premiums on such policies under certain

  9         circumstances; providing for repeal if the

10         policies and premiums are provided by the

11         Federal Government; providing an effective

12         date.

14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15  

16         Section 1.  Each member of the Florida National Guard

17  who is called to active duty in the service of the United

18  States shall be issued a life insurance policy in the amount

19  of $250,000. The Legislature shall provide for a continuing

20  appropriation from the General Revenue Fund to pay the

21  premiums on such policy during the period of active duty for

22  such member. This provision is repealed whenever similar life

23  insurance is provided by the Federal Government.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
