  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to highway signs; requiring the

  3         Department of Transportation to erect

  4         directional signs to certain colleges and

  5         universities in this state; requiring such

  6         colleges or universities to pay for the

  7         construction, erection, and maintenance of such

  8         signs; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  (1)  The Department of Transportation shall

13  install highway directional guide signs at specified highway

14  exits at the request of any college or university that has a

15  campus in this state which:

16         (a)  Offers at a minimum, baccalaureate degree and

17  graduate degree programs; and

18         (b)  Has at least 350 students enrolled at the campus

19  where the signs are to be located.

20         (2)  The respective college or university must pay all

21  costs related to the construction, erection, and maintenance

22  of such signs.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
