| 10 | amending s. 460.402, F.S.; providing an exception to |
| 11 | regulation for chiropractic students participating in |
| 12 | chiropractic college clinical internships; authorizing the |
| 13 | Board of Chiropractic Medicine to adopt rules; amending s. |
| 14 | 460.403, F.S.; defining "chiropractic college clinical |
| 15 | internship"; providing an effective date. |

| 17 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 18 |
|
| 19 | Section 1. Paragraph (j) is added to subsection (4) of |
| 20 | section 400.9905, Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 21 | 400.9905 Definitions.-- |
| 22 | (4) "Clinic" means an entity at which health care services |
| 23 | are provided to individuals and which tenders charges for |
| 24 | reimbursement for such services, including a mobile clinic and a |
| 25 | portable equipment provider. For purposes of this part, the term |
| 26 | does not include and the licensure requirements of this part do |
| 27 | not apply to: |
| 28 | (j) Clinical facilities affiliated with a college of |
| 29 | chiropractic accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education |
| 30 | at which training is provided for chiropractic students. |
| 31 | Section 2. Subsection (6) of section 460.402, Florida |
| 32 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
| 33 | 460.402 Exceptions.--The provisions of this chapter shall |
| 34 | not apply to: |
| 35 | (6) A chiropractic student enrolled in a chiropractic |
| 36 | college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education and |
| 37 | participating in either: |
| 38 | (a) A community-based internship under the direct |
| 39 | supervision of a doctor of chiropractic medicine who is |
| 40 | credentialed as an adjunct faculty member of a chiropractic |
| 41 | college in which the student is enrolled; or |
| 42 | (b) A chiropractic college clinical internship under the |
| 43 | direct supervision of a doctor of chiropractic medicine who is a |
| 44 | full-time, part-time, or adjunct faculty member of a |
| 45 | chiropractic college located in this state and accredited by the |
| 46 | Council on Chiropractic Education and who holds a current, |
| 47 | active Florida chiropractor's license. The board may adopt rules |
| 48 | as it deems necessary or appropriate to implement this |
| 49 | paragraph. |
| 50 | Section 3. Subsection (4) of section 460.403, Florida |
| 51 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
| 52 | 460.403 Definitions.--As used in this chapter, the term: |
| 53 | (4)(a) "Community-based internship" means a program in |
| 54 | which a student enrolled in the last year of a chiropractic |
| 55 | college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education is |
| 56 | approved to obtain required pregraduation clinical experience in |
| 57 | a chiropractic clinic or practice under the direct supervision |
| 58 | of a doctor of chiropractic medicine approved as an adjunct |
| 59 | faculty member of the chiropractic college in which the student |
| 60 | is enrolled, according to the teaching protocols for the |
| 61 | clinical practice requirements of the college. |
| 62 | (b) "Chiropractic college clinical internship" means a |
| 63 | program in which a student enrolled in a chiropractic college |
| 64 | located in this state and accredited by the Council on |
| 65 | Chiropractic Education obtains clinical experience pursuant to |
| 66 | the chiropractic college's curriculum in a classroom or |
| 67 | chiropractic clinic operated by the chiropractic college, |
| 68 | according to the teaching protocols for the clinical practice |
| 69 | requirements of the college. |
| 70 | Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
