A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to chiropractic education; amending s.
3400.9905, F.S.; providing that pt. XIII of ch. 400, F.S.,
4the Health Care Clinic Act, does not apply to clinical
5facilities affiliated with certain chiropractic colleges;
6amending s. 460.402, F.S.; providing an exception to
7regulation for chiropractic students participating in
8chiropractic college clinical internships; amending s.
9460.403, F.S.; defining "chiropractic college clinical
10internship"; providing an effective date.

12Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14     Section 1.  Paragraph (j) is added to subsection (4) of
15section 400.9905, Florida Statutes, to read:
16     400.9905  Definitions.--
17     (4)  "Clinic" means an entity at which health care services
18are provided to individuals and which tenders charges for
19reimbursement for such services, including a mobile clinic and a
20portable equipment provider. For purposes of this part, the term
21does not include and the licensure requirements of this part do
22not apply to:
23     (j)  Clinical facilities affiliated with a college of
24chiropractic accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education
25at which training is provided for chiropractic students.
26     Section 2.  Subsection (6) of section 460.402, Florida
27Statutes, is amended to read:
28     460.402  Exceptions.--The provisions of this chapter shall
29not apply to:
30     (6)  A chiropractic student enrolled in a chiropractic
31college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education and
32participating in either:
33     (a)  A community-based internship under the direct
34supervision of a doctor of chiropractic medicine who is
35credentialed as an adjunct faculty member of a chiropractic
36college in which the student is enrolled; or
37     (b)  A chiropractic college clinical internship under the
38direct supervision of a doctor of chiropractic medicine who is a
39full-time, part-time, or adjunct faculty member of a
40chiropractic college located in this state and accredited by the
41Council on Chiropractic Education and who holds a current,
42active Florida chiropractor's license.
43     Section 3.  Subsection (4) of section 460.403, Florida
44Statutes, is amended to read:
45     460.403  Definitions.--As used in this chapter, the term:
46     (4)(a)  "Community-based internship" means a program in
47which a student enrolled in the last year of a chiropractic
48college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education is
49approved to obtain required pregraduation clinical experience in
50a chiropractic clinic or practice under the direct supervision
51of a doctor of chiropractic medicine approved as an adjunct
52faculty member of the chiropractic college in which the student
53is enrolled, according to the teaching protocols for the
54clinical practice requirements of the college.
55     (b)  "Chiropractic college clinical internship" means a
56program in which a student enrolled in a chiropractic college
57located in this state and accredited by the Council on
58Chiropractic Education obtains clinical experience pursuant to
59the chiropractic college's curriculum in a classroom or
60chiropractic clinic operated by the chiropractic college,
61according to the teaching protocols for the clinical practice
62requirements of the college.
63     Section 4.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
