  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating

  3         s. 290.0073, F.S.; authorizing Indian River

  4         County, the City of Vero Beach, and the City of

  5         Sebastian to jointly apply to the Office of

  6         Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development for

  7         designation of an enterprise zone in Indian

  8         River County; providing requirements with

  9         respect thereto; requiring the office to

10         establish the initial effective date of the

11         enterprise zone; providing an effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14  

15         Section 1.  Section 290.0073, Florida Statutes, is

16  created to read:

17         290.0073  Enterprise zone designation for Indian River

18  County, the City of Vero Beach, and the City of

19  Sebastian.--Indian River County, the City of Vero Beach, and

20  the City of Sebastian may jointly apply to the Office of

21  Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development for designation of

22  one enterprise zone encompassing an area not to exceed 10

23  square miles which includes the boundaries of the Vero Beach

24  Airport and surrounding area, including the adjacent Gifford

25  Community, the Sebastian Municipal Airport, and adjacent

26  Roseland Community. The application must be submitted by

27  December 31, 2005, and must comply with the requirements of s.

28  290.0055. Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065

29  limiting the total number of enterprise zones designated and

30  the number of enterprise zones within a population category,

31  the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may

 1  designate one enterprise zone under this section. The Office

 2  of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development shall establish

 3  the initial effective date of the enterprise zone designated

 4  pursuant to this section.

 5         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

 6  law.

 9                          SENATE SUMMARY

10    Authorizes Indian River County, the City of Vero Beach,
      and the City of Sebastian to jointly apply to the Office
11    of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development for
      designation of an enterprise zone in Indian River County.
12    Provides requirements for the enterprise zone,
      notwithstanding other provisions of law.
