A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to adoption; amending s. 63.122, F.S.;
3providing that the interest that entitles a person to
4notice of an adoption proceeding must be direct and
5immediate; providing that a showing of an indirect,
6inconsequential, or contingent interest is wholly
7inadequate; providing an effective date.

9Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11     Section 1.  Subsection (2) of section 63.122, Florida
12Statutes, is amended to read:
13     63.122  Notice of hearing on petition.--
14     (2)  Notice of hearing must be given as prescribed by the
15Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, and service of process must be
16made as specified by law for civil actions. The interest that
17entitles a person to notice must be direct and immediate and the
18person must show that he or she will gain or lose by the direct
19legal operation and effect of judgment. A showing of an
20indirect, inconsequential, or contingent interest is wholly
21inadequate.
22     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
