  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to inspection of perishable

  3         items; requiring the Department of Agriculture

  4         and Consumer Services to inspect items that are

  5         exported by certain countries and enter the

  6         state through its airports; providing for

  7         payment of inspection costs; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  The Department of Agriculture and Consumer

13  Services shall manually inspect each perishable item that

14  enters the state through one of the state's airports and is

15  exported by a country that has been identified by the United

16  States Department of State as a country in which a terrorist

17  organization exists. The costs of inspection shall be borne by

18  the importer of such items.

19         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
