11  The Committee on Education Appropriations (Wise) recommended
12  the following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 50, line 5, through
16            page 53, line 2, delete those lines
17  
18  and insert:  direct contact with scholarship students to be of
19  good moral character, to be subject to the level 1 background
20  screening as provided under chapter 435, to be denied
21  employment or terminated if required under s. 435.06, and not
22  to be ineligible to teach in a public school because his or
23  her educator certificate is suspended or revoked. For purposes
24  of this paragraph:
25         1.  An "individual with direct student contact" means
26  any individual who has unsupervised access to a scholarship
27  student for whom the private school is responsible.
28         2.  The costs of fingerprinting and the background
29  check shall not be borne by the state.
30         3.  Continued employment of an individual after
31  notification that the individual has failed the level 1

 1  background screening shall cause a private school to be
 2  ineligible for participation in the Corporate Scholarship
 3  Program.
 4         4.  An individual holding a valid Florida teaching
 5  certificate who has been fingerprinted pursuant to s. 1012.32
 6  is not required to comply with this paragraph.
