1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to a special election to be
3 held on September 6, 2005, pursuant to Section
4 5 of Article XI of the State Constitution, for
5 the approval or rejection by the electors of
6 this state of a joint resolution amending
7 Section 1 of Article IX of the State
8 Constitution, relating to provisions that
9 mandate maximum class sizes for students in
10 prekindergarten through grade 12; providing a
11 contingent effective date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Pursuant to Section 5 of Article XI of the
16 State Constitution, there shall be a special election on
17 September 6, 2005, at which there shall be submitted to the
18 electors of this state for approval or rejection Senate Joint
19 Resolution No. ___, proposing an amendment to Section 1 of
20 Article XI of the State Constitution, relating to provisions
21 that prescribe the maximum class sizes allowed for students in
22 prekindergarten through grade 12.
23 Section 2. Publication of notice shall be in
24 accordance with Section 5 of Article XI of the State
25 Constitution. The special election shall be held in the same
26 manner as other special elections are held.
27 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
28 law, if enacted by the affirmative vote of at least
29 three-fourths of the membership of each house of the
30 Legislature.
