2 A resolution recognizing April 6, 2005, as
3 "Broward Days Day" in Tallahassee.

5 WHEREAS, Broward Days is an independent, nonprofit, and
6 nonpartisan group advocating for the diverse needs and
7 concerns of Broward County, Florida, during an annual local
8 legislative issues forum for the state, and
9 WHEREAS, Broward Days Tallahassee 2005 is April 5th and
10 6th, 2005, and
11 WHEREAS, Broward Days is one of the largest and most
12 diverse organizations of its kind, with over 600 active
13 community leaders and sponsors serving as a voice for issues
14 and concerns of Broward County, and
15 WHEREAS, Broward Days' effectiveness stems from the
16 work of members who volunteer to lead legislative issues teams
17 and the teams' participants, and
18 WHEREAS, the teams' objective is to improve the quality
19 of life for all Floridians by advocating for issues of
20 concern, and
21 WHEREAS, the following legislative issues teams are
22 represented this year at Broward Days: 2-1-1 Community, Social
23 Services & Disaster Information, Children's Issues, Court
24 Funding, Creative Industries and Film, Disabilities, Domestic
25 Security, Economic Development, PreK-12 Education,
26 Postsecondary Education, Education Workforce Development,
27 Energy Conservation, Everglades Preservation, Growth
28 Management, Health Care, Immigrant Issues, Insurance,
29 Financial Services, and Health Insurance, Intangibles Tax,
30 International Business & Trade, Juvenile Justice, Port

1 Everglades, Technology, Women's Issues, and the Broward League
2 of Cities, and
3 WHEREAS, sponsors for Broward Days play a strong
4 leadership role in shaping the future of Broward County and
5 play a critical role in helping Broward Days reach Florida
6 decisionmakers who can effect positive changes in our
7 community, and
8 WHEREAS, Broward Days' success is the result of
9 cooperation between Broward Days, the Broward Legislative
10 Delegation, and the Broward County Board of County
11 Commissioners, and
12 WHEREAS, Broward County is home to 1.7 million
13 residents, many of whom are immigrants from dozens of
14 different countries, and
15 WHEREAS, Broward County celebrates the Year of the
16 Environment in 2005, highlighting 300 miles of inland
17 waterways, 23 miles of Blue Wave certified beaches, the exotic
18 Everglades, and sunny skies year-round, and
19 WHEREAS, Broward County possesses an abundance of
20 natural wonders, from the seagrass to the sawgrass, and
21 WHEREAS, Broward Days represents the diverse voices of
22 Broward County on issues that matter to them, NOW, THEREFORE,

24 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

26 That April 6, 2005, is recognized as "Broward Days Day"
27 in Tallahassee as the Senate welcomes and celebrates with the
28 Broward Days participants at the State Capitol.
