12 Appropriations (Webster) recommended the following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 57, between lines 2 and 3,
16
17 insert:
18 Section 27. Subsection (3) of section 101.001, Florida
19 Statutes, is amended to read:
20 101.001 Precincts and polling places; boundaries.--
21 (3)(a) Each supervisor of elections shall maintain a
22 suitable map drawn to a scale no smaller than 3 miles to the
23 inch and clearly delineating all major observable features
24 such as roads, streams, and railway lines and showing the
25 current geographical boundaries of each precinct,
26 representative district, and senatorial district, and other
27 type of district in the county subject to the elections
28 process in this code.
29 (b) The supervisor of elections shall notify the
30 Secretary of State in writing within 30 days after of any
31 reorganization of precincts and shall furnish a copy of the

1 map showing the current geographical boundaries and
2 designation of each new precinct. However, if precincts are
3 composed of whole census blocks, the supervisor may furnish,
4 in lieu of a copy of the map, a list, in an electronic format
5 prescribed by the Department of State, associating each census
6 block in the county with its precinct.
7 (c) Any precinct established or altered under the
8 provisions of this section shall consist of areas bounded on
9 all sides only by:
10 1. Visible features that are readily distinguishable
11 upon the ground, such as streets, railroad tracks, streams,
12 and lakes, and that are indicated upon current census maps,
13 official Department of Transportation maps, official municipal
14 maps, official county maps, or a combination of such maps;
15 2. The boundaries of public parks, public school
16 grounds, or churches; or
17 3. The boundaries of counties and incorporated
18 municipalities.
19 (d) Until July 1, 2012, a supervisor may apply for and
20 obtain from the Secretary of State a waiver of the requirement
21 in paragraph (c).
