12 the following substitute for amendment (961470):

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 18, between lines 11 and 12,

17 insert:
18 Section 8. Subsection (1) of section 631.56, Florida
19 Statutes, is amended to read:
20 631.56 Board of directors.--
21 (1) The board of directors of the association shall
22 consist of not fewer less than 6 five or more than 10 nine
23 persons serving terms as established in the plan of operation.
24 The department shall approve and appoint to the board up to 9
25 persons recommended by the member insurers and one Florida
26 licensed insurance agent as a non-voting member who is
27 appointed by the department. In the event the department finds
28 that any recommended person does not meet the qualifications
29 for service on the board, the department shall request the
30 member insurers to recommend another person. Each member shall
31 serve for a 4-year term and may be reappointed. Vacancies on

1 the board shall be filled for the remaining period of the term
2 in the same manner as initial appointments.
