11  The Committee on Education (Wise) recommended the following
12  amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 2, lines 7-19, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  
18         Section 3.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (15) and
19  subsection (21) of section 1001.42, Florida Statutes, are
20  amended, present paragraphs (b) through (e) of subsection (5)
21  of that section are redesignated paragraphs (c) through (f),
22  respectively, and a new paragraph (b) is added to that
23  subsection to read:
24         1001.42  Powers and duties of district school
25  board.--The district school board, acting as a board, shall
26  exercise all powers and perform all duties listed below:
27         (15)  PUBLIC INFORMATION AND PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
28  PROGRAM.--
29         (a)  Adopt procedures whereby the general public can be
30  adequately informed of the educational programs, needs, and
31  objectives of public education within the district, including

 1  educational opportunities available through the Florida
 2  Virtual School and its approved school district franchises.
 3         (b)  Adopt procedures to notify parents and students in
 4  writing when the student has met the required credits for high
 5  school graduation provided in s. 1003.43 and, in such
 6  notification, inform the parent that the student may depart
 7  the district school system if the parent so chooses.

12         On page 1, line 8, following the semicolon
13  
14  insert:
15         amending s. 1001.42, F.S.; requiring district
16         school boards to adopt procedures for notifying
