  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones; amending

  3         s. 290,00698, F.S.; authorizing Okaloosa County

  4         and the City of Crestview to apply to the

  5         Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

  6         Development to amend the boundaries of the

  7         enterprise zone in Okaloosa County; providing

  8         an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Section 290.00698, Florida Statutes, is

13  amended to read:

14         290.00698  Enterprise zone designation for Okaloosa

15  County.--

16         (1)  Okaloosa County may apply to the Office of

17  Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development for designation of

18  one enterprise zone within an area in Okaloosa County, which

19  zone encompasses an area up to 6 square miles.  The

20  application must be submitted by December 31, 2001, and must

21  comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055, except subsection

22  (3) thereof. Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065

23  limiting the total number of enterprise zones designated and

24  the number of enterprise zones within a population category,

25  the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may

26  designate one enterprise zone under this section. The Office

27  of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development shall establish

28  the initial effective date of the enterprise zone designated

29  pursuant to this section.

30         (2)  The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

31  Development may, upon application by governing bodies of

 1  Okaloosa County and the City of Crestview, amend the

 2  boundaries of enterprise zone EZ-4601 in Okaloosa County. The

 3  boundary amendment may not increase the size of the enterprise

 4  zone by more than 5 square miles and the increased area must

 5  have a contiguous boundary or be composed of not more than

 6  three noncontiguous areas. The application must be submitted

 7  by December 31, 2005.

 8         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.

11                          SENATE SUMMARY

12    Authorizes Okaloosa County and the City of Crestview to
      apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
13    Development to amend the boundaries of the enterprise
      zone in Okaloosa County.
