  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to prohibiting the registration

  3         of firearms; amending s. 790.001, F.S.;

  4         defining the term "computer-aided dispatch

  5         (CAD) system"; amending s. 790.335, F.S.;

  6         exempting from the prohibition of keeping

  7         records of firearms records generated by a

  8         computer-assisted dispatch system used for

  9         officer safety; providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Subsection (20) is added to section

14  790.001, Florida Statutes, to read:

15         790.001  Definitions.--As used in this chapter, except

16  where the context otherwise requires:

17         (20)  "Computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system" means an

18  electronic database system that provides the public safety

19  call-taker and dispatcher with a ready resource of call

20  information, unit availability, and other factors.

21         Section 2.  Paragraph (s) is added to subsection (3) of

22  section 790.335, Florida Statutes, to read:

23         790.335  Prohibition of registration of firearms.--

24         (3)  EXCEPTIONS.--The provisions of this section shall

25  not apply to:

26         (s)  Computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems used for

27  officer safety.

28         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
