  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to child safety; requiring a

  3         person to present picture identification before

  4         retrieving a child from a public school;

  5         providing a definition; requiring a person to

  6         present picture identification before

  7         retrieving a child from a nonpublic school or

  8         certain child care facilities; providing a

  9         definition; providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  In addition to any other requirements

14  imposed by school districts, a person must present picture

15  identification to the school principal or his or her designee

16  before retrieving a student from any public school in this

17  state. As used in this section, the term "picture

18  identification" means a valid state driver's license, a valid

19  state identification card, or a valid United States military

20  identification card.

21         Section 2.  In addition to any other requirements

22  imposed by a nonpublic school exempt from licensure under

23  section 402.3025, Florida Statutes, a child care facility

24  licensed under section 402.305, Florida Statutes, a family day

25  care home licensed under section 402.313, Florida Statutes, a

26  large family child care home licensed under section 402.3131,

27  Florida Statutes, or a faith-based child care provider exempt

28  from licensure under section 402.316, Florida Statutes, a

29  person must present picture identification to the appropriate

30  school or child care official or his or her designee before

31  retrieving a child from any of these facilities. As used in

 1  this section, the term "picture identification" means a valid

 2  state driver's license, a valid state identification card, or

 3  a valid United States military identification card.

 4         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
