13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 14, line 29, through
15            page 25, line 13, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  
18         1002.385  The Reading Compact Scholarships
19  Program.--There is established the Reading Compact
20  Scholarships Program, a program designed to offer students who
21  have not attained reading proficiency beyond Level 1 the tools
22  and assistance to further the students' progress in reading.
23         (1)  PURPOSE.--The purpose of the Reading Compact
24  Scholarships Program is to provide to each student who has
25  scored at Level 1 on the reading portion of the FCAT a laptop
26  computer, training by the school for the parent and student on
27  how to use the laptop computer, and individualized reading
28  tutoring for the student.
29         (2)  ELIGIBILITY.--A student who has scored at Level 1
30  on the reading portion of the FCAT may receive a Reading
31  Compact Scholarship for a period of 3 consecutive years.
