12 the following amendment:

15 On page 27, line 24, through
16 page 28, line 21, delete those lines,

18 and insert:
19 (r) Must ensure that each individual who has direct
20 student contact with a scholarship student be of good moral
21 character, be subject to level 1 background screening provided
22 under chapter 435, be denied employment or terminated if
23 required under s. 435.06, and not be ineligible to teach in a
24 public school because his or her educator certificate is
25 suspended or revoked.
26 1. As used in this paragraph, the term "direct student
27 contact" means unsupervised access to a scholarship student
28 for whom the private school is responsible.
29 2. The costs of fingerprinting and the background
30 check shall not be borne by the state.
31 3. Continued employment of an individual after

1 notification that the individual has failed the level 1
2 background screening shall cause a private school to be
3 ineligible to participate in a scholarship program.
4 4. An individual holding a valid Florida teaching
5 certificate who has been fingerprinted pursuant to s. 1012.32
6 is not required to comply with this paragraph.
