11 Senator Villalobos moved the following amendment:

13 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
14 On page 87, between lines 7 and 8,
15
16 insert:
17 Section 50. Subsection (1) of section 318.32, Florida
18 Statutes, is amended to read:
19 318.32 Jurisdiction; limitations.--
20 (1) Hearing officers shall be empowered to accept
21 pleas from and decide the guilt or innocence of any person,
22 adult or juvenile, charged with any civil traffic infraction
23 and shall be empowered to adjudicate or withhold adjudication
24 of guilt in the same manner as a county court judge under the
25 statutes, rules, and procedures presently existing or as
26 subsequently amended, except that hearing officers shall not:
27 (a) Have the power to hold a defendant in contempt of
28 court, but shall be permitted to file a motion for order of
29 contempt with the appropriate state trial court judge;
30 (b) Hear a case involving a crash resulting in injury
31 or death; or

1 (c) Hear a criminal traffic offense case or a case
2 involving a civil traffic infraction issued in conjunction
3 with a criminal traffic offense; or.
4 (d) Have the power to suspend a defendant's driver's
5 license pursuant to s. 316.655(2).

14 insert:
15 amending s. 318.32, F.S.; prohibiting a hearing
