  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to seaports; requiring the

  3         Department of Law Enforcement to develop a

  4         program to survey the underwater areas of

  5         certain deepwater seaports; providing an

  6         appropriation; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  On or before July 1, 2006, the Department

11  of Law Enforcement shall develop and implement a program to

12  conduct, at least biennially, a survey, using a sonar scanning

13  system that generates highly detailed two- and

14  three-dimensional maps and charts, of the underwater areas of

15  each deepwater seaport in this state which serves cargo or

16  passenger vessels.

17         Section 2.  The sum of $1.5 million is appropriated

18  from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Law

19  Enforcement to administer this act.

20         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
