4 | Remove everything after the enacting clause and insert: |
5 | Section 1. Appearance card required for testifying before |
6 | a legislative committee; implied oath.-- |
7 | (1) For purposes of this section, the term "legislative |
8 | committee" means any committee, subcommittee, select committee, |
9 | conference committee, joint committee, or council of either or |
10 | both chambers of the Legislature. |
11 | (2) Any registered lobbyist who testifies before a |
12 | legislative committee shall be considered to be under oath and, |
13 | if he or she willfully testifies falsely, is subject to |
14 | penalties for perjury as provided by law. |
15 | (3) Before testifying before a legislative committee, a |
16 | registered lobbyist must complete an appearance card that |
17 | includes, but need not be limited to, the lobbyist's name and |
18 | address, the organization that he or she represents, if any, and |
19 | the lobbyist's signature. The card must contain a notice, |
20 | printed in legible type and located above the signature line, |
21 | which states that by signing the card the lobbyist acknowledges |
22 | being under oath and subject to penalties for perjury if he or |
23 | she does not testify truthfully. |
24 | (4) Any written documentation distributed by a registered |
25 | lobbyist to a member of the Legislature, their staff, or any |
26 | employee of the Legislature regarding a bill pending before the |
27 | Legislature shall be deemed to have been submitted under oath |
28 | and subject to penalties for perjury as provided by law. |
29 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2005. |
