  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing November 2005 as

  3         "Family Month" in Florida.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, America's character begins in the home, where

  6  children learn the proper standards of conduct and values, and

  7         WHEREAS, families provide children with the

  8  encouragement, support, and love they need to become

  9  confident, compassionate, and successful members of society,

10  and

11         WHEREAS, we must work together to promote and preserve

12  the health and security of our families by upholding the

13  timeless values that have sustained our society throughout

14  history, and

15         WHEREAS, recent events have reminded Americans of the

16  blessings of family and friends and the importance of faith,

17  and

18         WHEREAS, parents should be the most prominent and

19  active figures in their children's lives, recognizing that by

20  spending more family time together, they can develop positive

21  and open relationships with their children which will allow

22  them to better engage their children and encourage them to

23  make positive choices, and

24         WHEREAS, state residents, schools, and civic

25  institutions can assist families by helping to meet the needs

26  of all those who live in our communities, and

27         WHEREAS, as we work together to strengthen our

28  families, we build a nation of hope and opportunity for all,

29  NOW, THEREFORE,

31  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 1         That the month of November 2005 is recognized as

 2  "Family Month" in Florida and that all Florida residents are

 3  urged to observe this month by spending quality time with

 4  family members to strengthen relationships between parents and

 5  their children.
