  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution commending Bob DiNicola for his

  3         many years of public leadership and service.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, as Mayor of Indian Rocks Beach from 1994 to

  6  2005, Bob DiNicola has worked with great success to improve

  7  and expand programs, public facilities, and infrastructure,

  8  and

  9         WHEREAS, he has also served as a delegate to the

10  Barrier Islands Government Council from 1994 to 2003 and as

11  its president in 1999-2000; as a member of the Suncoast League

12  of Municipalities Board of Directors from 2002 to 2004; as a

13  delegate to the Florida League of Cities from 1994 to 2004 and

14  as a member of its Finance and Taxation Committee from 2001 to

15  2004; and as a member of the Pinellas Planning Council from

16  1999 to 2004 and its chairperson in 2003, and

17         WHEREAS, Bob DiNicola initiated action on many issues

18  of regional importance, including gulf beach renourishment and

19  the Gulf Beach Trolley System; provided assistance for the

20  State Coastal Construction Line Program and recreation

21  programming for the North Beaches; assisted in improvements to

22  the accessibility, appearance, and amenities of the Indian

23  Rocks' beaches; and helped to obtain federal assistance in

24  response to the "No Name Storm" of 1993, and

25         WHEREAS, Bob DiNicola has also managed to provide

26  further public service and community betterment through his

27  activities as a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars;

28  as a member of and usher for St. Jerome's Catholic Church; as

29  a member and past president of the Indian Rocks Beach Civic

30  Association; as president of the North Beaches YMCA Board of

 1  Directors; and as a member of the YMCA of the Suncoast Board

 2  of Directors, and

 3         WHEREAS, in 2003, Mayor DiNicola became the first

 4  recipient of the "Commitment to Excellence in Leadership

 5  Award" from the Indian Rocks Volunteer Firemen's Association

 6  of Pinellas Suncoast Fire and Rescue, and he has earned the

 7  admiration and gratitude of all who have worked with him and

 8  benefited from his energy and guidance, NOW, THEREFORE,

 9  

10  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

11  

12         That the Florida Senate commends and congratulates Bob

13  DiNicola on his many years of exemplary and effective

14  leadership and public service.

15         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

16  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Bob

17  DiNicola as a token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
