1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to Broward County; amending
3 chapter 94-429, Laws of Florida, as amended;
4 authorizing expenditures for the purposes
5 enumerated therein, including meals,
6 hospitality, and entertainment of persons in
7 the interest of promoting and engendering
8 goodwill toward its seaport, Port Everglades;
9 providing severability; providing an effective
10 date.

12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14 Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 5 of chapter
15 94-429, Laws of Florida, as amended by chapter 99-475, Laws of
16 Florida, is amended to read:
17 Section 5. Powers and duties.--The county shall have
18 full power and authority:
19 (2) To create and promote commerce and industry within
20 the county; promote the activities of its seaport; make known
21 the advantages, facilities, resources, and attributes of its
22 seaport; and, in furtherance thereof, authorize expenditures
23 for the purposes of this subsection, including meals,
24 hospitality, and entertainment of persons in the interest of
25 promoting and engendering goodwill toward its port
26 jurisdictional area, as defined in subsection (3) of section 2
27 of chapter 94-429, Laws of Florida, as amended by chapter
28 99-475, Laws of Florida, which area shall be known as Port
29 Everglades.
30 Section 2. Severability.--It is declared to be the
31 legislative intent that if any section, subsection, sentence,

1 clause, or provision or part thereof of this act is held
2 invalid, unenforceable, or unconstitutional, it shall not
3 affect the remainder of the act, and the remainder of the act
4 shall remain in full force and effect as if the invalid
5 portions of the act had not been enacted.
6 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
