8 SENATE SUMMARY
9 Authorizes notaries public to charge fees per-person
rather than a flat fee per document. Provides for
10 notaries to provide services without fee for military
veterans, firefighters, and law enforcement officers when
11 applying for benefits based on public service. Requires
notaries to keep journals of notarial acts; the failure
12 to do so subjects a notary to suspension for neglect of
duty but does not invalidate the document that is the
13 subject of the notarial act.
