| 4 | effective educator in this state is able to demonstrate an |
| 5 | awareness of actions that may constitute a hate crime by |
| 6 | completing the hate crimes training program offered by the |
| 7 | Department of Legal Affairs; providing an effective date. |

| 9 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 10 |
|
| 11 | Section 1. Paragraph (q) is added to subsection (2) of |
| 12 | section 1012.52, Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 13 | 1012.52 Teacher quality; legislative findings.-- |
| 14 | (2) The Legislature further finds that effective educators |
| 15 | are able to do the following: |
| 16 | (q) Demonstrate an awareness of actions that may |
| 17 | constitute a hate crime by completing the hate crimes training |
| 18 | program offered by the Office of Civil Rights within the |
| 19 | Department of Legal Affairs. |
| 20 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2005. |
