  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Water Quality Assurance

  3         Trust Fund; amending s. 376.307, F.S.;

  4         authorizing the Department of Environmental

  5         Protection to use certain funds for brownfield

  6         activities; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Paragraph (f) is added to subsection (1) of

11  section 376.307, Florida Statutes, to read:

12         376.307  Water Quality Assurance Trust Fund.--

13         (1)  The Water Quality Assurance Trust Fund is intended

14  to serve as a broad-based fund for use in responding to

15  incidents of contamination that pose a serious danger to the

16  quality of groundwater and surface water resources or

17  otherwise pose a serious danger to the public health, safety,

18  or welfare. Moneys in this fund may be used:

19         (f)  For activities by the department to administer

20  brownfield sites.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
