11  The Committee on Ways and Means (Saunders) recommended the
12  following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment 
15         On page 9, line 25, through
16            page 10, line 11, delete those lines
17  
18  and insert:  
19         2.  The agency shall amend the long-term care
20  reimbursement plan and cost reporting system to create direct
21  care and indirect care subcomponents of the patient care
22  component of the per diem rate. These two subcomponents
23  together shall equal the patient care component of the per
24  diem rate. Separate cost-based ceilings shall be calculated
25  for each patient care subcomponent. The direct care
26  subcomponent of the per diem rate shall be limited by the
27  cost-based class ceiling and may be limited by the target rate
28  class ceiling, and the indirect care subcomponent shall be
29  limited by the lower of the cost-based class ceiling, by the
30  target rate class ceiling, or by the individual provider
31  target. The agency shall adjust the patient care component

 1  effective January 1, 2002. The cost to adjust the direct care
 2  subcomponent shall be net of the total funds previously
 3  allocated for the case mix add-on. The agency shall make the
 4  required changes to the nursing home cost reporting forms to
 5  implement this requirement effective January 1, 2002.
