  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to nurse registries; amending

  3         s. 400.506, F.S.; revising requirements for

  4         home visits by registered nurses; deleting a

  5         mandatory requirement for monthly visits;

  6         requiring that the patient be notified of the

  7         availability of optional visits; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Paragraph (c) of subsection (10) of section

13  400.506, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

14         400.506  Licensure of nurse registries; requirements;

15  penalties.--

16         (10)

17         (c)  When a nurse registry contracts to provide

18  services to a patient, the nurse registry shall advise the

19  patient, the patient's family, or any other person acting on

20  behalf of the patient that registered nurses are available to

21  visit the patient's home for an additional cost. A registered

22  nurse shall make monthly visits to the patient's home to

23  assess the patient's condition and quality of care being

24  provided by the certified nursing assistant or home health

25  aide.  Any condition which in the professional judgment of the

26  nurse requires further medical attention shall be reported to

27  the attending physician and the nurse registry. The assessment

28  shall become a part of the patient's file with the nurse

29  registry and may be reviewed by the agency during their survey

30  procedure.

31         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.

 3    Deletes a requirement that nurse registries have a
      registered nurse make monthly home visits to assess care
 4    being given to the patient. Requires nurse registries to
      advise patients or others that home visits by registered
 5    nurses are available for an additional cost.
