  2         An act relating to nurse registries; amending

  3         s. 400.506, F.S.; revising requirements for

  4         home visits by registered nurses; deleting a

  5         mandatory requirement for monthly visits;

  6         requiring that the patient be notified of the

  7         availability of optional visits; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Paragraph (c) of subsection (10) of section

13  400.506, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

14         400.506  Licensure of nurse registries; requirements;

15  penalties.--

17         (c)  When a certified nursing assistant or home health

18  aide is referred to a patient's home by a nurse registry, the

19  nurse registry shall advise the patient, the patient's family,

20  or a person acting on behalf of the patient at the time of

21  contracting for services through the nurse registry of the

22  availability of registered nurses to visit the patient's home

23  to assess the patient's condition at an additional cost. A

24  registered nurse shall make monthly visits to the patient's

25  home to assess the patient's condition and quality of care

26  being provided by the certified nursing assistant or home

27  health aide. Any condition which in the professional judgment

28  of the nurse requires further medical attention shall be

29  reported to the attending physician and the nurse registry.

30  The assessment shall become a part of the patient's file with

 2  their survey procedure.

 3         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
