8 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
9 |
|
10 | Section 1. This act may be cited as the "School Crossing |
11 | Guard Protection Law." |
12 | Section 2. Subsection (3) of section 316.072, Florida |
13 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
14 | 316.072 Obedience to and effect of traffic laws.-- |
15 | (3) OBEDIENCE TO LAWFUL ORDERS AND DIRECTIONS OF POLICE |
16 | AND FIRE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS.--It is unlawful and a misdemeanor |
17 | of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. |
18 | 775.083, for any person willfully to fail or refuse to comply |
19 | with any lawful order or direction of any law enforcement |
20 | officer, traffic crash investigation officer as described in s. |
21 | 316.640, traffic infraction enforcement officer as described in |
22 | s. 316.640, school crossing guard as described in s. 316.75, or |
23 | member of the fire department at the scene of a fire, rescue |
24 | operation, or other emergency. Notwithstanding the provisions of |
25 | this subsection, certified emergency medical technicians or |
26 | paramedics may respond to the scene of emergencies and may |
27 | provide emergency medical treatment on the scene and provide |
28 | transport of patients in the performance of their duties for an |
29 | emergency medical services provider licensed under chapter 401 |
30 | and in accordance with any local emergency medical response |
31 | protocols. |
32 | Section 3. This act shall take effect October 1, 2005. |
