  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the regulation of electrical

  3         and alarm system contractors; amending s.

  4         489.503, F.S.; exempting certain employees of

  5         residential condominium homeowners'

  6         associations or homeowners' associations from

  7         part II of ch. 489, F.S., relating to

  8         electrical and alarm system contracting;

  9         providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Subsection (21) is added to section

14  489.503, Florida Statutes, to read:

15         489.503  Exemptions.--This part does not apply to:

16         (21)  The monitoring of an alarm system by an employee

17  of a residential condominium association or a homeowners'

18  association if the alarm monitoring system:

19         (a)  Is the exclusive property of, or is leased by, the

20  association;

21         (b)  Complies with all applicable firesafety standards

22  in chapter 633; and

23         (c)  Is designed to protect only the residences and

24  common areas specific to the particular association that

25  employs such person and does not provide protection to other

26  residential condominium associations or homeowners'

27  associations.

28         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
