  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to motor vehicle dealers;

  3         requiring dealers to provide copies of

  4         maintenance records, warranties, and other

  5         historical documents to purchasers of certain

  6         used vehicles; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  (1)  A motor vehicle dealer, as defined in

11  section 320.27, Florida Statutes, who sells or leases a used

12  vehicle more than 24 months after the date the vehicle was

13  originally delivered to a consumer as a new vehicle must give

14  the purchaser all maintenance records, copies of warranties,

15  and other documents that provide a history of the vehicle.

16         (2)  This section does not apply to the sale of a motor

17  home or off-road vehicle.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
