  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to state financial matters;

  3         amending s. 215.01, F.S.; changing the dates of

  4         the state fiscal year; providing for

  5         implementing such change; providing an

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Section 215.01, Florida Statutes, is

11  amended to read:

12         215.01  Fiscal year.--The fiscal year shall begin on

13  October July 1 and end on June 30 in each and every year and

14  end on September 30 in the following year.

15         Section 2.  For the purpose of implementing the change

16  in the state fiscal year, the state budget for the period

17  beginning July 1, 2008, shall be prepared for the period July

18  1, 2008, through September 30, 2009, and thereafter shall be

19  prepared according to the schedule prescribed by section

20  215.01, Florida Statutes.

21         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.

24                          SENATE SUMMARY

25    Changes the beginning date of the state fiscal year from
      July 1 to October 1 and provides for preparing a state
26    budget that will implement the transition.
