7An act relating to private security services and private
8investigative services; amending s. 493.6115, F.S.;
9revising the types of firearms that Class "CC," Class "D,"
10Class "M," and Class "MB" licensees are authorized to
11carry; revising provisions with respect to the types of
12firearms and ammunition that licensees who also hold a
13Class "G" license are authorized to carry; eliminating
14authority of specified Class "C" licensees to carry
15certain semiautomatic pistols while performing security-
16related services; providing an effective date.

18Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
19
20     Section 1.  Subsection (6) of section 493.6115, Florida
21Statutes, is amended to read:
22     493.6115  Weapons and firearms.--
23     (6)  Unless otherwise approved by the department, the only
24firearm a Class "CC," Class "D," Class "M," or Class "MB"
25licensee who has been issued a Class "G" license may carry is a
26.38 or .357 caliber revolver with factory .38 caliber ammunition
27only. In addition to any other firearm approved by the
28department, a Class "C" or Class "MA" licensee who has been
29issued a Class "G" license may, while in the performance of her
30or his official duties under this chapter, carry a .38 caliber
31revolver; or a .380 caliber or 9 millimeter semiautomatic
32pistol; or a .357 caliber revolver with .38 caliber ammunition
33only. A Class "C" licensee who also holds a Class "D" license,
34and who has been issued a Class "G" license, may carry a 9
35millimeter semiautomatic pistol while performing security-
36related services. No licensee may carry more than two firearms
37upon her or his person when performing her or his duties. A
38licensee may only carry a firearm of the specific type and
39caliber with which she or he is qualified pursuant to the
40firearms training referenced in subsection (8) or s.
41493.6113(3)(b).
42     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
