  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the prohibition on

  3         prostitution; amending s. 796.07, F.S.;

  4         allowing a police officer to testify as an

  5         offended party in an action under s. 796.07,

  6         F.S.; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 796.07, Florida

11  Statutes, is amended to read:

12         796.07  Prohibiting prostitution, etc.; evidence;

13  penalties; definitions.--

14         (3)(a)  In the trial of a person charged with a

15  violation of this section, testimony concerning the reputation

16  of any place, structure, building, or conveyance involved in

17  the charge, testimony concerning the reputation of any person

18  residing in, operating, or frequenting such place, structure,

19  building, or conveyance, and testimony concerning the

20  reputation of the defendant is admissible in evidence in

21  support of the charge.

22         (b)  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a

23  police officer may testify as an offended party in an action

24  regarding charges filed pursuant to this section.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
