11 The Committee on Banking and Insurance (Baker) recommended the
12 following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 7, line 25, after the period,
16
17 insert: Further, to ensure uniform safety standards for
18 consumer fireworks, the state has exclusive power to regulate
19 the sale, use, safety standards, and possession of fireworks
20 in this state. A county, municipality, or other unit of local
21 government may not enact any ordinance, rule, regulation, or
22 other law after March 8, 2005, which prohibits or interferes
23 with the safety standards established by state law or the
24 right to purchase, sell, use, or possess consumer fireworks in
25 this state.
