11  The Committee on Banking and Insurance (Miller) recommended
12  the following amendment:

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 1, line 15, through
16            page 2, line 8, delete those lines
17  
18  and insert:  
19         Section 1.  Subsection (3) is added to section 633.065,
20  Florida Statutes, to read:
21         633.065  Requirements for installation, inspection, and
22  maintenance of fire suppression equipment.--
23         (3)(a)  Each fire hydrant shall be tested in accordance
24  with National Fire Protection Standard 24, subsection 4-3.6,
25  and inspected and maintained in compliance with National Fire
26  Protection Association Standard 25, Standard for the
27  Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire
28  Protection Systems, the edition currently adopted by the State
29  Fire Marshal pursuant to its code-adoption and
30  standards-adoption authority in this chapter. The owner of a
31  fire hydrant is responsible for performing the required

Florida Senate - 2005 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT Bill No. SB 748 Barcode 725136 1 testing, inspecting, or maintenance of that fire hydrant. 2 (b) Inspection results that determine that a private 3 fire hydrant is nonfunctioning must be reported immediately to 4 the local authorities having jurisdiction. 5 (c) The owner of a private fire hydrant shall cause 6 any repair or replacement indicated by an inspection to be 7 made within 30 days and shall maintain records of the repair 8 or replacement. 9 (d) Consistent with s. 633.025(1), the requirements of 10 this subsection are deemed adopted by each municipality, 11 county, and special district that has fire safety 12 responsibilities. 13 (e) Penalties for noncompliance with this subsection 14 shall be in accordance with s. 633.171. 15 16 17 ================ T I T L E A M E N D M E N T =============== 18 And the title is amended as follows: 19 Delete everything before the enacting clause 20 21 and insert: 22 A bill to be entitled 23 An act relating to privately owned fire 24 hydrants; amending s. 633.065, F.S.; requiring 25 owners of private fire hydrants to test 26 hydrants in accordance with national standards; 27 requiring nonfunctioning hydrants to be 28 reported and repaired; providing fines for 29 noncompliance; providing an effective date. 30 31 2 2:02 PM 03/04/05 s0748c-bi18-c3v
