8 | contractors who provide certain animal health care |
9 | services from the requirements of ch. 474, F.S., relating |
10 | to the practice of veterinary medicine; providing an |
11 | effective date. |

13 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

15 | Section 1. Subsection (5) of section 474.203, Florida |
16 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
17 | 474.203 Exemptions.--This chapter shall not apply to: |
18 | (5) Any person, or the person's regular employee, or an |
19 | independent contractor under the supervision of such person |
20 | administering to the ills or injuries of her or his own animals, |
21 | including, but not limited to, castration, spaying, and |
22 | dehorning of herd animals, unless title has been transferred or |
23 | employment provided for the purpose of circumventing this law. |
24 | This exemption shall not apply to out-of-state veterinarians |
25 | practicing temporarily in the state. However, only a |
26 | veterinarian may immunize or treat an animal for diseases which |
27 | are communicable to humans and which are of public health |
28 | significance. |

30 | For the purposes of chapters 465 and 893, persons exempt |
31 | pursuant to subsection (1), subsection (2), or subsection (4) |
32 | are deemed to be duly licensed practitioners authorized by the |
33 | laws of this state to prescribe drugs or medicinal supplies. |
34 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
