House Resolution
2A resolution designating November 2005 as "Family Month"
3in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, America's character begins in the home, where
6children learn the proper standards of conduct and values, and
7     WHEREAS, families provide children with the encouragement,
8support, and love they need to become confident, compassionate,
9and successful members of society, and
10     WHEREAS, we must work together to promote and preserve the
11health and security of our families by upholding the timeless
12values that have sustained our society throughout history, and
13     WHEREAS, recent events have reminded Americans of the
14blessings of family and friends and the importance of faith, and
15     WHEREAS, parents should be the most prominent and active
16figures in their children's lives, recognizing that by spending
17more family time together, they can develop positive and open
18relationships with their children that will allow them to better
19engage their children and encourage them to make positive
20choices, and
21     WHEREAS, citizens, schools, and civic institutions can
22assist families by helping to meet the needs of all those who
23live in our communities, and
24     WHEREAS, as we work together to strengthen our families, we
25build a nation of hope and opportunity for all, NOW, THEREFORE,

27Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28Florida:

30     That the month of November 2005 is designated "Family
31Month" in Florida and that all Florida residents are urged to
32observe this day by spending quality time with family members to
33strengthen relationships between parents and their children.
