2A resolution recognizing February 6, 2005, as "Ronald
3Reagan Day" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, a man of humble
6background, worked throughout his life serving freedom and
7advancing the public good, having been employed as an
8entertainer, union leader, and corporate spokesman before being
9elected Governor of California and President of the United
10States of America, and
11     WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction
12for two terms as the 40th President of the United States of
13America and was elected to his second term by three-fifths of
14the electorate and by 49 of the 50 states, a record unsurpassed
15in the history of American presidential elections, and
16     WHEREAS, in 1981, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated
17President, he inherited a disillusioned nation that was shackled
18by rampant inflation and high unemployment, and
19     WHEREAS, during Mr. Reagan's presidency, he worked in a
20bipartisan manner to enact his bold agenda of restoring
21accountability and common sense to the Federal Government, which
22led to an unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for
23millions of Americans, and
24     WHEREAS, President Reagan's commitment to an active social
25policy agenda for the nation's children helped to lower crime
26and reduce drug use in our neighborhoods, and
27     WHEREAS, President Reagan's commitment to our Armed Forces
28contributed to the restoration of pride in America and its
29values and those cherished by the free world and prepared
30America's Armed Forces to meet the challenges of the 21st
31century, and
32     WHEREAS, President Reagan's vision of "peace through
33strength" led to the end of the Cold War and the ultimate demise
34of the Soviet Union, guaranteeing basic human rights for
35millions of people, and
36     WHEREAS, February 6, 2005, was the 94th anniversary of
37Ronald Reagan's birth and the first anniversary of his passing,
38NOW, THEREFORE,

40Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
41Florida:

43     That the House of Representatives pauses in its
44deliberations to honor the memory and accomplishments of
45President Ronald Wilson Reagan and to recognize February 6,
462005, as "Ronald Reagan Day" in the State of Florida.
