House Resolution
2A resolution commending the University of Florida Men's
3Basketball Team.

5     WHEREAS, the University of Florida Men's Basketball Team
6has compiled 23 wins during the 2004-2005 season, its seventh
7consecutive 20-win season after achieving 20 wins only five
8times in the preceding 77 seasons, and
9     WHEREAS, under Coach Billy Donovan, the University of
10Florida Gators have won two Southeastern Conference regular
11season championships and have made one appearance in the
12National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship game, and
13     WHEREAS, the Florida Gators defeated the University of
14Alabama 68-62 and Mississippi State University 80-64 to reach
15the SEC Tournament final, and
16     WHEREAS, the Florida Gators defeated the Kentucky Wildcats
1770-53 in Atlanta, Georgia, to earn their first-ever SEC
18Tournament Championship, securing their seventh consecutive NCAA
19Tournament appearance, and
20     WHEREAS, the Florida Gators will face Ohio University in
21the first round of the 2005 NCAA Division I Basketball
22Championship in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 18, 2005, NOW,
23THEREFORE,

25Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
26Florida:

28     That the House of Representatives salutes the University of
29Florida Men's Basketball Team for its sustained excellence and
30for winning the 2005 Southeastern Conference Tournament
31Championship.
32     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
33presented to the University of Florida Men's Basketball Team as
34a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
