| 4 | WHEREAS, Henry Latimer was born in Ocilla, Georgia, on |
| 5 | January 22, 1938, grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and went on |
| 6 | to earn his undergraduate degree from Florida Agricultural and |
| 7 | Mechanical University in 1963, his graduate degree from Florida |
| 8 | Atlantic University in 1967, and his degree of Juris Doctor from |
| 9 | the University of Miami's Law School in 1973, and |
| 10 | WHEREAS, in 1979, Henry Latimer was appointed by Florida |
| 11 | Governor Bob Graham to serve as a Circuit Court Judge in Broward |
| 12 | County, in which capacity he was regarded for his intellect and |
| 13 | fairness and consistently received the highest rating of "most |
| 14 | qualified" from lawyers who practiced in his courtroom, and |
| 15 | WHEREAS, Henry Latimer stepped down from the judgeship to |
| 16 | return to private practice, and his giving spirit and commitment |
| 17 | to providing legal services to the less fortunate led him to |
| 18 | create the Laura Latimer Free Legal Clinic, in the name of his |
| 19 | sister, through which he enlisted attorneys to provide legal |
| 20 | clinics, and |
| 21 | WHEREAS, Henry Latimer, active in numerous professional |
| 22 | associations and community service organizations and the |
| 23 | recipient of many prestigious awards and honors, held his most |
| 24 | recent position with the nationally prominent law firm of |
| 25 | Greenberg Traurig, and |
| 26 | WHEREAS, on January 24, 2005, Henry Latimer, a devoted |
| 27 | husband, father, grandfather, uncle, mentor, and friend, ended |
| 28 | his service upon this earth, leaving the citizens of Florida to |
| 29 | mourn the loss of an influential and matchless individual, NOW, |
| 30 | THEREFORE, |

| 32 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 33 | Florida: |
| 34 |

| 35 | That the House of Representatives, with immense pride mixed |
| 36 | with extreme sadness, honors the memory of an outstanding |
| 37 | citizen and extends its sincere sympathy to the family, friends, |
| 38 | and associates of Henry "Lat" Latimer. |
| 39 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
| 40 | presented to the late judge's wife, Mildred Latimer, and his |
| 41 | daughters, Tracie Latimer and Desiree Williams, as a tangible |
| 42 | token of the sentiments expressed herein. |
