2A resolution honoring the members of the Phi Theta Kappa
32005 All-Florida Academic Team.

5     WHEREAS, March 31, 2005, "Florida Phi Theta Kappa Day," is
6an appropriate time for the Legislature of the State of Florida
7to recognize and salute Phi Theta Kappa, the esteemed
8international honor society for community and junior colleges,
9and
10     WHEREAS, special commendations should be extended to the
11outstanding scholars who comprise the 2005 All-Florida Academic
12Team, a team of highly successful community college students
13assembled by the Florida Community College System, and
14     WHEREAS, 108 students from Florida's Community College
15System and two private institutions, Keiser College and Florida
16College, were named to the 2005 All-Florida Academic Team, and
17     WHEREAS, based on the national ranking of these students in
18the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by USA Today and
19Phi Theta Kappa, which is recognized internationally,
20nationally, and in the State of Florida as the primary community
21college organization for the recognition of academic
22achievement, leadership, and service to the community, the
23following students comprise the 2005 All-Florida Academic Team:

135has demonstrated impressive intellect and leadership and a

138members of Phi Theta Kappa's All-Florida Academic Team have
139earned for them and their academic institutions the respect and
140admiration of the House of Representatives of the State of
141Florida and of the citizenry of this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

143Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

146     That the Florida House of Representatives hereby honors and
147congratulates Phi Theta Kappa, the Florida Community College
148System, and the members of the 2005 All-Florida Academic Team
149and commends the team members' outstanding competitive spirit as
150evidenced by their accomplishments.
