House Resolution
2A resolution commending Kristopher Geyer-Roberts, an
3exceptional young man and a model citizen of Florida.

5     WHEREAS, Kristopher Geyer-Roberts, a 14-year-old eighth-
6grader at Nova Middle School in Davie, Florida, thought nothing
7of his own safety in 2003 when he was confronted with a life-or-
8death situation at summer camp, and
9     WHEREAS, he and friend Eric Douglas were thrown from their
10tow lines while kneeboarding in Deerfield Beach's Quiet Waters
11Park, and Eric Douglas was left semi-conscious in the water
12after being struck by another kneeboarder, and
13     WHEREAS, Kristopher Geyer-Roberts swam to his rescue,
14pulling his friend onto a kneeboard and towing him to safety,
15acts that resulted in his friend's full recovery, and
16     WHEREAS, Kristopher Geyer-Roberts was subsequently
17presented in 2004 with a heroism award by the Boy Scouts of
18America and a key to the City of Plantation by Plantation Mayor
19Rae Carole Armstrong, and
20     WHEREAS, in 2005, he was selected from more than four
21million Boy Scouts and was one of only six Scouts in the nation
22to represent his organization in Washington, D.C., where the
23group visited the United States Supreme Court, Arlington
24National Cemetery, the Goddard Space Flight Center, the
25Pentagon, and the United States Naval Academy and delivered the
26annual report of the Boy Scouts of America to President George
27W. Bush at the White House, NOW, THEREFORE,

29Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
30Florida:

32     That Kristopher Geyer-Roberts is commended for his heroic
33efforts in saving the life of another, an action that proves him
34to be an exceptional young man and a model citizen of Florida.
35     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
36presented to Kristopher Geyer-Roberts as a tangible token of the
37sentiments expressed herein.
