| 2 | A resolution commending Kristopher Geyer-Roberts, an |
| 3 | exceptional young man and a model citizen of Florida. |

| 5 | WHEREAS, Kristopher Geyer-Roberts, a 14-year-old eighth- |
| 6 | grader at Nova Middle School in Davie, Florida, thought nothing |
| 7 | of his own safety in 2003 when he was confronted with a life-or- |
| 8 | death situation at summer camp, and |
| 9 | WHEREAS, he and friend Eric Douglas were thrown from their |
| 10 | tow lines while kneeboarding in Deerfield Beach's Quiet Waters |
| 11 | Park, and Eric Douglas was left semi-conscious in the water |
| 12 | after being struck by another kneeboarder, and |
| 13 | WHEREAS, Kristopher Geyer-Roberts swam to his rescue, |
| 14 | pulling his friend onto a kneeboard and towing him to safety, |
| 15 | acts that resulted in his friend's full recovery, and |
| 16 | WHEREAS, Kristopher Geyer-Roberts was subsequently |
| 17 | presented in 2004 with a heroism award by the Boy Scouts of |
| 18 | America and a key to the City of Plantation by Plantation Mayor |
| 19 | Rae Carole Armstrong, and |
| 20 | WHEREAS, in 2005, he was selected from more than four |
| 21 | million Boy Scouts and was one of only six Scouts in the nation |
| 22 | to represent his organization in Washington, D.C., where the |
| 23 | group visited the United States Supreme Court, Arlington |
| 24 | National Cemetery, the Goddard Space Flight Center, the |
| 25 | Pentagon, and the United States Naval Academy and delivered the |
| 26 | annual report of the Boy Scouts of America to President George |
| 27 | W. Bush at the White House, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 29 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 30 | Florida: |

| 32 | That Kristopher Geyer-Roberts is commended for his heroic |
| 33 | efforts in saving the life of another, an action that proves him |
| 34 | to be an exceptional young man and a model citizen of Florida. |
| 35 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
| 36 | presented to Kristopher Geyer-Roberts as a tangible token of the |
| 37 | sentiments expressed herein. |
