2A resolution designating Tuesday, April 12, 2005, as "Marc
3Bernier Day" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, Marc Bernier was born in 1955 in Rhode Island,
6began working in radio in 1975, and moved to Florida in 1986,
7and
8     WHEREAS, Marc Bernier started a community radio show at
9WNDB AM 1150, Daytona Beach, in 1991 and since that time has
10used his show as a liaison between public policymakers and the
11residents of Volusia and Flagler counties by providing an outlet
12for both elected and appointed officials to reach constituents
13with important information in a timely fashion, and
14     WHEREAS, Marc Bernier has used his radio program to
15interview scores of public officials, including Vice President
16Richard Cheney, United States House Speaker Dennis Hastert,
17United States Senate Majority Leader William Frist, Florida's
18United States Senators Bill Nelson and Mel Martinez,
19Governor Jeb Bush, Florida House Speaker Allan Bense, and a
20variety of other federal, state, and local leaders, and
21     WHEREAS, Marc Bernier's fair-minded approach to
22interviewing community leaders and furthering public discussion
23has earned him recognition in The New York Times; he has been
24featured on national television and radio broadcasts, including
25FOX News, MSNBC, CNN, and C-SPAN; and the Marc Bernier Show has
26been ranked as one of the Top 100 hundred important talk shows
27in America by Talkers Magazine, and
28     WHEREAS, as an important part of today's observance of
29Volusia County Days in Florida's Capital City, the Marc Bernier
30Show is being broadcast from the State Capitol Building, NOW,
31THEREFORE,

33Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
34Florida:

36     That Tuesday, April 12, 2005, be designated as "Marc
37Bernier Day" in Florida.
38     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
39presented to Marc Bernier as a tangible token of the sentiments
40expressed herein.
