| 5 | WHEREAS, Chipola Junior College, founded in 1947, became a |
| 6 | public educational institution on September 1, 1948, when it |
| 7 | joined the state Junior College System and, by virtue of its |
| 8 | offering 4-year Bachelor of Science Degrees in Science and |
| 9 | Mathematics, became Chipola College on August 18, 2003, and |
| 10 | WHEREAS, since 1997, Chipola College has been the exclusive |
| 11 | site of the Florida Junior College Women's Basketball |
| 12 | Tournament, and |
| 13 | WHEREAS, in the course of the 2004-2005 season, the Lady |
| 14 | Indians Women's Basketball Team achieved a win-loss record of |
| 15 | 29-8, made its sixth State Tournament appearance, and on March |
| 16 | 12, 2005, won the Florida Community College Activities |
| 17 | Association/National Junior College Athletics Association Region |
| 18 | VIII Women's Basketball Tournament, its first State |
| 19 | Championship, and |
| 20 | WHEREAS, as winners of the 2004-2005 tournament, the Lady |
| 21 | Indians represented Florida and Region VIII in the National |
| 22 | Junior College Athletics Association Women's National Basketball |
| 23 | Tournament in Salina, Kansas, on March 22-26, and finished among |
| 24 | the top sixteen teams in the nation, and |
| 25 | WHEREAS, the 2004-2005 Lady Indians Women's Basketball Team |
| 26 | is made up of players Tashera Chisolm, Tojalyn "Sweetpea" |
| 27 | Atmore, Laura Cowling, Nacole Stocks, Parris Hargrove, Tayani |
| 28 | Clark, Monica King, Cherish Tom, Shawnta Pope, Chinata Nesbit, |
| 29 | Tamika Jackson, and Ashley Perry and is led by Head Coach David |
| 30 | Lane and Assistant Coaches Lauren Bradley and Shehera Clark, |
| 31 | NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 33 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

| 36 | That the coaches and members of the Chipola College Lady |
| 37 | Indians 2004-2005 Women's Basketball Team are commended for |
| 38 | their outstanding accomplishments and are proudly recognized as |
| 39 | representatives of Florida and Region VIII in the National |
| 40 | Junior College Women's Basketball Championship Tournament. |
| 41 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
| 42 | presented to each team member and coach as a tangible token of |
| 43 | the sentiments expressed herein. |
