| 5 | WHEREAS, in its first competition outside the state and its |
| 6 | first on this level, on March 19, 2005, the East Gadsden High |
| 7 | School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps participated in |
| 8 | the Second Annual Army Eastern Region Drill Championship in |
| 9 | Landover, Maryland, the only school from Florida to do so, and |
| 10 | WHEREAS, the East Gadsden High cadets represented their |
| 11 | school, county, and state admirably in all five events of the |
| 12 | Armed Division - Platoon Regulation Drill, In-Ranks Inspection, |
| 13 | Squad Exhibition, Color Guard, and Academic - performing with |
| 14 | the same dedication, perseverance, and hard work that has made |
| 15 | them winners at regional and state levels, including a state |
| 16 | championship for two consecutive seasons, and |
| 17 | WHEREAS, the East Gadsden High School JROTC Color Guard, in |
| 18 | keeping with its "win or place" record in every competition |
| 19 | during this school term, made Gadsden County history when it |
| 20 | placed third among 33 other outstanding high school and military |
| 21 | academy drill teams from throughout the Eastern Region of the |
| 22 | United States, and |
| 23 | WHEREAS, trained by and under the direction of Master |
| 24 | Sergeant Jerome A. Kerrison, Sergeant First Class Michael |
| 25 | Williams, and Demetri Webb, the East Gadsden County High School |
| 26 | JROTC has compiled a record that marks 2004-2005 as the first |
| 27 | year the Male Color Guard has either placed or won in every meet |
| 28 | in which it has participated, including state and Cadet Command |
| 29 | Eastern Regional Championship; the second consecutive year the |
| 30 | drill team has won at least five trophies at the state meet; the |
| 31 | second year the team has won first place at a state competition; |
| 32 | the first year the team has competed outside of Florida; and the |
| 33 | first year two female unarmed squads qualified for state |
| 34 | competition, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 36 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 37 | Florida: |

| 39 | That the cadets and officers of the East Gadsden High |
| 40 | School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps are recognized |
| 41 | for their superb 2004-2005 record, are commended for their fine |
| 42 | representation of their school, county, and state, and are |
| 43 | congratulated for their outstanding showing in the United States |
| 44 | Army Cadet Command Eastern Regional Championship. |
| 45 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
| 46 | presented to the East Gadsden High School JROTC as a tangible |
| 47 | token of the sentiments expressed herein. |
