  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to teacher quality; amending s.

  3         1012.52, F.S.; providing legislative findings

  4         to enunciate that an effective educator in this

  5         state is able to demonstrate an awareness of

  6         actions that may constitute a hate crime by

  7         completing the hate crimes training program

  8         offered by the Department of Legal Affairs;

  9         providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Paragraph (q) is added to subsection (2) of

14  section 1012.52, Florida Statutes, to read:

15         1012.52  Teacher quality; legislative findings.--

16         (2)  The Legislature further finds that effective

17  educators are able to do the following:

18         (q)  Demonstrate an awareness of actions that may

19  constitute a hate crime by completing the hate crimes training

20  program offered by the Office of Civil Rights within the

21  Department of Legal Affairs.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.

25                          SENATE SUMMARY

26    Enunciates findings by the Legislature that an effective
      educator is able to demonstrate an understanding of what
